Yeah, I was bummed about the tigers loss but hey...somebody has to lose. I wasn't really upset because of the way they lost. Going down to a #17 ranked SEC opponent in their stadium in the 3rd OT isn't too bad. We only dropped to #4 in the BCS poll so a National Championship is still possible.

Rick: any luck on the deer hunt. It was pretty slim pickens up in the Chesnimus unit. I got a Whitetail spike and thatwas all we got for 9 tags.

I can just about imagine. I have seen quite a few bobcats but I don't know what I would do if I saw a friggin cougar watching me. I get freaked out in the woods in the dark by myself as it is lol.

Heck yeah it would suck. I actually went out and bought a Kimber Custom II chambered in .45ACP just for the protection from hogs. lol Although, I think I would rather take my chances with a ticked off hog than with a blood thirsty cougar... We have florida panthers in our area but they are very rarely seen, Im talking about one or two sightings per year out of the entire parish.

Yeah, my dad hunts with a .300 weatherby and it sure has tons of knockdown power. I just don't think I have the patience to hunt with a bow. The downfall of hunting with a bow in our area of Louisiana is that you can only carry a .22 loaded with rat shot and there are tons of feral hogs on our land. Those things are ferocious and I would hate to get caught with just a bow and some rat shot to fend one off. lol

Well, I am primarily going to be hunting with rifle. 7mm Rem Mag to be exact. Most of the spots that I hunt on our land have pretty long shots. My primary stand is about 200 yards from the edge of a woodline and is in the middle of a 40 acre clearcut. We have already seen deer and hogs in the field so hopefully our foodplots will draw something out while I am sitting in the stand.

not bad getting pumped for another archery season. seeing some nice bucks..i just wish it would cool off its still a little to warm out.
